STUDENTS:

  1. WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THE PARTNER COUNTRIES?

MARCIN (14 YEARS OLD):

These are all European countries. I know something about them from Geography lessons, but it’s not much. That’s why I want to expand my knowledge and learn more - get to know the culture and customs of these countries.

PAWE£ (14 YEARS OLD):

The only thing I know about the partner countries is that they are in Europe, not very far from Poland. This is not very significant information and I’m going to learn more about them through the participation in the project.

IZA (14 YEARS OLD):

These countries are situated in south-east Europe. Their main religion is the Orthodox faith.

SYLWIA (14 YEARS OLD):

All the countries are in Europe. Some of them – Bulgaria and Turkey are placed at the Black Sea. I heard that Romanians are very nice people. I want to take part in the project to learn something more, some interesting things about these countries.

  1. DO YOU KNOW WHAT GOLDEN SECTION IS?

MARCIN:

The only thing I know about the golden section is that it’s used in architecture, fine art, photography, mathematics and physics.

PAWE£:

My knowledge about the golden section is restricted to encyclopedic knowledge. I hope I will learn more about its practical use.

IZA:

I know that golden section is a mathematical term which can be applied in many fields of our life.

SYLWIA:

I know that two quantities are in the golden section if the ratio of the sum of the quantities to the larger one equals the ratio of the larger one to the smaller. It’s mathematical term.

  1. WHAT KIND OF ACTIVITIES DO YOU THINK WE WILL DO TOGETHER?

MARCIN:

I think we’ll be improving our English and learn about other countries’ culture. We will get the knowledge in a very interesting way. And we’ll make new friends. All of this while discussing some issues connected with golden ratio.

PAWE£:

I believe we’ll work on many issues, however, the most important one will be getting the knowledge about the practical use of golden section. But learning about visited counties, about their history and culture, meeting new people also seem vital. I think that during such visits, students have a chance to improve their English and thus - be able to communicate with foreigners. For some of us, it’s the only chance to go abroad.

IZA:

I think we’ll learn about different usage of golden section in different fields, like music, art, biology and mathematics of course. We’ll also get to know the culture and history of partner countries.

SYWIA:

As far as I know, Comenius Socrates is a program which is concerned with partnership between different countries. I don’t know exactly what we’re going to do but I imagine that we can learn about cultural differences and, of course, golden ratio matters. We will connect through the Internet and directly, by visiting partner countries to meet each others.

  1. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT TO GET/REACH FROM THIS PROJECT?

MARCIN:

I hope that participation in the project will give me a great opportunity to meet new people and make new friends as well as visiting different countries and learning more about their culture and customs. I’m also going to get some knowledge about golden ratio and, what is really important to me, improve my English. And I could share my knowledge with my peers.

PAWE£:

By taking part in this project, I’m going to improve my English, meet many interesting people and make friends with some of them. Thanks to it I could learn much about their history and culture. For all these reasons, I’m really glad that my school participates in that kind of project.

IZA:

I’d like to learn more about different cultures and interesting people. I hope, I will have a chance to check my English in practice. Another great thing about this project is, that I will have an opportunity to see how life in different European countries looks like.

SYLWIA:

There are many things that I expect from this project.  I’d like to get to know the life and the culture of different countries and their inhabitants, but also to exchange our tradition and customs with them. It would be interesting to compare the educational system during the stay in another country.  I’d like to use my English in practice and to make new friends from different countries.
