The list of the participating countries amazed my, because I  have never imagined that, it is possible to establish connections with Turkey, Bulgaria or even Poland by school programs. What really raises my ambitions which are related to this project is that I have never been to these countries on holidays, although I would definitely like to find out more about new countries and cultures. Hungary is a usual place for a Transilvanian to go, and I’m not as interested as in the other countries.

The things that I’ve heard about these countries are pleasant and unpleasant, but generally they are good. I have never had connections with Turkish people, but I’m eager to meet some of them. This is the farthest country from the participating four, and I hope that if I can make into the team I can visit that part of the world. I’ve  heard that people are very kind with visitors in Turkey, although this may be because of the fact that this country’s partial income comes from tourism. By my knowledge, Turkish people are different than European people, I heard my friends who’ve visited Turkey mentioning the fact that, reckless driving is a common thing among Turkish people.

Poland is a very interesting country as well, thinking about the language there, and the strong presence of the catholic religion, and I would mention that I’m interested in knowing more about the mentality of the people living there. This is the country of which I know the least, but this is one of them which I would definitely like to visit.

Bulgaria is one of the countries in Europe which has a very bad reputation among the people in our area. They say that the social security is very bad and people are more corrupt than in Romania.

Hungary is a country where I can understand the language, and that is why I don’t see so much difference between them and us. Our school has many connections with schools from Hungary, and I try to be part of the most.

I heard of the golden ratio before, but I have never thought that it is so important in science. The fact which left me awestruck is the finding out about Adolf Zeising, who proves that there are animals which have their skeleton constructed upon this universal law, and besides the humans have this same characteristic, it can’t be a coincidence. At first I wasn’t happy about the fact that this is the main subject of the project, but now, fully aware of this knowledge, I really like the idea and believe that the scientists of today haven’t discovered all of what there is on this subject. The mathematics part of the golden ratio is huge, I  went over some of it and I understand that in case of a divided line segment a+ b is to a as a is to b,  but that is only a small part.

During this summer, I had the luck to be part of a summer school program organized in Holland, where we participated at some political lectures which introduced me more deeply in the political status of the world.  That was in English as well, but what I really liked is interacting with these people from other cultures, and listening to people from there starting their sentences with this: “Our country is so rich…” . This was comic to me, but I became smarter seeing these people and getting a glance upon their culture. I hope that if I can make it to the project, it won’t be just about the golden section, but about excursions and activities of any kind which will bring us, students, together, and I hope that I will be able to meet people who know a lot more than I do.

When I finish highschool, I thought about continuing to study medicine, and that’s why I’m highly interested in the biology part of the project, but I hope that I will be able to improve my English as well. Besides this, I expect that I will meet new and interesting people who will teach me things not just about the golden section, but about their thinking, lifestyle and culture.
